Russell,
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you feel like your numbers are better eating your normal diet than they were prior to doing 2 weeks of the HED. Just interested to see if, despite astronomical blood sugar figures during your 2 week experiment, there are signs of healing and improvement of any kind.
Matt,
ReplyDeleteThey are definately better(~100-150 pts), both fasted and during the day; but that also coincides with starting insulin on 1/1. Therefore it's hard for me to distinguish which factor is more responsible. I have kept the insulin dosage constant throughout. I haven't gone quite as low-carb as before in fear of certain symptons returning, as well as effecting thyroid function; I have been shooting for 100-125g/day. I have also been making an effort to lower protein consumption and shift towards fat more. There has probably been a 30-50g shift in that regard depending on the day. I am fairly certain I am also eating more calories overall as well. Today's fasted reading is the best in ~8 months. I can send you a spreadsheet of my readings for the last 3-4 weeks or so if you are interested.
Still debating whether I want to reintroduce some low volume weight training or wait one more week.
Yes, I would think that the insulin is probably making the big difference here, but it's hard to say.
